We might rarely hear about Vexillology. Based on the Oxford Dictionary, vexill-um means flag + -ology means study. Vexillology is a study that focuses on the various elements of flags like symbols, colors, designs, and many others.  In 1957, Whitney Smith is adding one branch subject on the Vexillology by making a research on the flag identification and makes it as a part of Vexillology study.

 To support, Vexillology, the official Vexillology organization FIAV, holds International Conges of Vexillology one every two years. The purpose of the congress is to maintain and give perfection to all study branches of Vexillology.
