The study of flag is called as Vexillology. The study in very interesting because it allows us to learn about flag and various elements related to flag. On this study, we are taught to learn about flag design as well.

 Related to the desing, in this study, we will be taught about the principles of flag design like making the flag in a simple design, using symbols that have meaning,  using not more than three colors, no seal or letter, and using relevant symbols and colors. In the study, we will find so many interesting things to study like meaning, symbol, identification, and many others.

 When vexillum and – logy are joined, it forms the word Vexillology means study about flag. Various things that can be learnt about flags form its principles, theories, meanings, symbols, and many others.

 A well known vexillologist, Whitney Smith created another element to be included in Vexillology, which is Flag Identification system. The identification system is dealing with the usage of flag in various institutions like government, military, and private usage. The usage is divided into two locations: land and sea usage. With this addition branch of study in Vexillology, someone can identify the type of flag used in a specific condition.
